The Secret Place

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
~Psalm 91:1 NKJV

That verse really grabbed my attention.  Who shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty?  He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High!
Lord Jesus tells us to go into our rooms when we pray and that our Father who is in the secret place and who sees in secret, will reward us openly.

When we pray to our heavenly Father we enter into His presence where He is in the secret place and Jesus said the kingdom of God is within us.  Jesus also said that if we love Him, we will keep His word and His Father will love us and He and Father will come to us and make their home with us.

Jesus also told us to remain (abide) in Him and for His words to remain in us.  When we are faithful to pray always, we abide in the presence of God and there is safety in abiding in the presence of God!

We now have boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus.  We access the secret place of the Most High with confidence through faith in Jesus Christ.

Abba

The word Abba in Hebrew means Father.  In my first language, Afrikaans, the word abba means to piggyback, to be carried on someone's back and shoulders.

That is just so much like our Heavenly Father, our Abba, carrying us through all our troubles in life.  It reminds me of Footprints in the Sand.

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
~•Galatians 4:6

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
~•Romans 8:15

~•Footprints in the Sand•~

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."
