Today for the first time we noticed that this balm (photos at the bottom of this note), (which I use on Ma when she gets a sore on her skin like the blister type thingy she had under her foot which I wrote about the other day), has Scripture references on the back of the box!π Not every box has it on the back though.)
I tell you, prayer to our Abba Father God in the Name of Jesus and this balm combined, healed Ma's blister like sore! It fell off after about two days. I even posted the picture that time.
(Today God brought to my mind the scalesπ that fell off Saul's eyes when Ananias by God's power healed Saul from the blindness. After that Saul was saved and became Paul.) Acts 9:18
I have been thinking a lot lately about the fact that we pray for healing but continue to use balm or medicines, some might say it is lack of faith, but the Lord also brought to my mind what He did sometimes when He healed people!....
He healed a deaf man by putting His fingers into the man's ears, then He spit and touched the man's tongue (Mark 7:33)!
He also healed a blind man by spitting on his eyes and putting His hands on him (Mark 8:23).
And in John 9:6 Jesus spit on the ground and made some mud with the saliva and put it on the eyes of a man who was born blind and he was healed!
The Bible also tells us as believers to pray over the sick, and anoint them with oil in the Name of our Lord Jesus. (James 5:14).
(I remember my late grandmother on my father’s side, who asked the elders in the church to bless her medicines.)
The point being that it is not wrong to pray in Jesus' Name while using balm or whatever meds for healing! The healing comes from the power of God!
These are the Scriptures on the box (a prophecy about Jesus in Isaiah):
He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:3-5 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
Most important is our spiritual healing, our souls sick with sin. The prophet Jeremiah longed for the Balm of Gilead to heal his people (Jeremiah 8:22) and there was a literal healing balm in Gilead, but here it was symbolic of our Saviour Jesus, Healer of our souls. Jesus came with healing in His wings (Malachi 4:2). I think of the woman who suffered from vaginal bleeding and she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and power went out from Him and she was healed!
There is a balm in Gilead
to make the wounded whole.
There is a balm in Gilead
to heal the sin sick soul.
